Meet Our Team

When you work with Springborn, you’ll notice an immediate difference, not just in the quality of our jobs and talent, but also in the people you work with here. They are more experienced, more knowledgeable and more invested in your career. Here’s a little bit about our team:

Ken DeSimone – President

Ken comes to Springborn Staffing with over a dozen years of experience in tax and accounting and has decided to embrace a new challenge: small business ownership. His background includes tax compliance and planning for individuals and small businesses, as well as serving as Tax Manager / Director for a couple global manufacturing companies, but it’s his passion for local small business that led him to Springborn.

For Fun: Ken enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Erika, three kids Eli, Rose & Adam, and two dogs Larry & Stella. Ken likes to play hockey and golf in his free time and enjoys the occasional IPA at any number of great local breweries.

Interesting Tidbit: Ken has been an avid New York Giants fan for over 25 years, but please don’t hold that against him.

Deborah Jabine – Vice President & Sr. Recruiter

Deb is one of the most loyal (and fun!) individuals in the biz. Job seekers can count on Deb being their best friend and number one fan in their job search. You won’t find anyone more dedicated (and did we mention fun?) in this line of work.  Deb has lots (over 30!) years of experience as a search professional. Quite simply, she is the best.

For Fun: Deb enjoys spending time with her family at her summer home on Peaks Island; has been an avid Yoga practitioner for years, creates beautiful stained glass lamps, and, if you see her staring off into the distance up on “the hill” – no need to worry, she is just soaking in that Casco Bay view.

Interesting Tidbit: Deb recently became a competitive 5K runner & would like to complete a mini-triathlon – Kudos Deb!

Kurt Gundersen – Senior Recruiter

Kurt Gundersen is technically “from away” but grew up in Maine before heading out west, where he lived and worked for more than a few decades. Once an aspiring actor (BA Theater from University of Maine; MFA in Acting from Arizona State University), he had to find a “day job” after finishing his education and fell into recruiting. Long story short, the day job turned into a career! He loves it and has been doing it ever since. After many years of Left-Coast living, he and his wife recently decided to return to the beautiful state of Maine. He has a broad base of experience both within external agencies and as an internal recruiter. He’s seen it all, recruiting candidates at all levels and in a variety of professions including in Tech, Finance and Accounting, Administrative support, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Food and Beverage, and Legal.

For Fun: Areas of interests outside of work include playing guitar, singing and writing songs (new album coming out soon!); running in all kinds of weather; and golf. It’s been a while but he used to run 10 and 12Ks all the time. Of course just enjoying running doesn’t mean he’s very fast. He’s not. Even remotely. He’s also not very good at golf but loves playing anyway and even occasionally crushes one off the tee!

Interesting Tidbit: Even though Kurt lived for many years outside of New England, he always maintained his steadfast passionate support for our local sports teams (Sox, Pats, Celts and Bruins) and looks forward to Spring so he can finally get to a SeaDogs game! How cool that we get to watch future Red Sox stars right here in Portland!

Mike Sansonetti – Senior Recruiter

With over 20 years of recruiting and staffing expertise, Mike is a powerhouse in the talent acquisition world. His journey includes more than a decade at North America’s largest IT staffing firm, where he supported clients across the U.S., delivering top-tier talent solutions. Mike’s versatility shines through his experience with startups, where he not only helped build teams from the ground up but also mastered the art of finding passive candidates for high-demand software engineering roles. His impact isn’t confined to IT—Mike has successfully placed hundreds of professionals in non-IT and C-suite positions, showcasing his broad recruiting prowess.

Whether building dream teams or sinking cornhole shots, Mike approaches every challenge with a blend of expertise, humor, and passion that leaves a lasting impression.

For Fun: A proud Ohio native, Mike combines his Midwestern work ethic with a knack for connecting with people. Outside the office, he’s an avid cornhole competitor, traveling throughout New England to play in tournaments.

Interesting Tidbit: Speaking of travel, Mike once found himself in a memorable in-flight moment when a flight attendant mistook him for LeBron James after a first-class seat swap—proof that his presence commands attention, both on the ground and in the air!

Paul Farrell – Recruiter

Paul joins us as our Banking/Credit Union Recruiter Extraordinaire. Paul made Endicott College Deans List two years in a row, in addition to playing soccer and studying in Madrid, Spain for a semester (no… he didn’t run with the bulls – I think… maybe he played soccer with them – well, we really should ask better interview questions to get to the bottom of all this). One thing we’re sure of – he enjoyed some world quality soccer while he was there. Paul’s most recent experience is with the Portland Press Herald as a Human Resources professional, and, while in college he served as manager of the Skinny Pancake (hey – when will we get one of those in Portland…?). Paul also served as the Head Coach of Capital Soccer Club. Paul is already diligently working for both his Clients and Candidates – lucky ducks.

For Fun: Paul takes every opportunity to visit his family in Vermont where they are up for any kind of adventure – hiking, swimming, watching local sports, and snowboarding are all on the table. Wondering if he has seen Champ out on Lake Champlain while swimming…? Of course, soccer, soccer, soccer – go Messi! And his new passion….? Disc Golf.

Interesting Tidbit: Paul has dreams of opening a gym or becoming a personal trainer someday – I’m hoping we can get free workout sessions in the meantime. Paddleboard yoga anyone…?

Liz Dunn – Office Administrator

Liz hails from Lebanon, CT, a small farming town with more chickens than people! Growing up in a small town she always wanted to live closer to a city and ended up going to Stonehill College located about 30 minutes from Boston. After graduating with a degree in American Studies she moved to South Boston aka Southie where she worked as a marketing assistant in the finance world. She has an accomplished background in a diversity of areas including data analytics, administrative support, loan processing and property management!

Liz Dunn is our payroll mastermind, behind the scenes she is taking care of payroll and a variety of administrative tasks around the office. Along with CT and Boston she has also lived in the Seacoast area of New Hampshire and even lived down South in New Orleans (NOLA or Nawlins’ as the locals say). Ultimately her favorite place to call home is Maine, in the middle of winter her answer may change depending on how much shoveling she has to do. Working in downtown Portland is a dream come true for her, she enjoys checking out new restaurants and works part-time as a Portland-based real estate agent. At work, Liz is very detail-oriented and will chase down timesheets if needed, all in the name of keeping everyone paid and happy!

For Fun: You can find her checking out live music at One Longfellow Square and a variety of Bluegrass events and festivals in Southern Maine. Her partner is a member of a local bluegrass band called Tricky Britches!

Interesting Tidbit: Along with her role at Springborn, Liz is also a landlord – correction: landlady, and works as a house painter in the warmer months. She has worked on a few exteriors right here in the Portland area, she is also starting to learn basic carpentry skills which is going well so far (*knocks on wood*). If you see her in the office with paint on her hands, now you know why!
